Freelance Writer and Blogger
Tara Lynne Groth is a freelance writer in North Carolina. She resigned from 9-to-5 life in 2010 after a year of successful moonlighting as a freelancer. Tara Lynne is a former marketing manager and has six years of experience in real estate.
As an SEO writer in Raleigh, Tara Lynne combines traditional audience-focused strategies with progressive Web 2.0 and mobile tactics when writing search engine-optimized web content. She is quick to explain the latest online search algorithm changes to clients. Tara Lynne is a requested speaker at writers conferences and presented top blogging practices in 2013 at the Times Square headquarters of the American Society of Journalists & Authors.
With over a decade of journalism experience, her freelance magazine articles surface in dozens of markets, including AirTran Airways’ GO Magazine, Blue Ridge Outdoors and Draft. Her articles typically stem from extraordinary experiences or people she discovers, like kayaking at night or an artist who creates art for the blind.
She donates significant time to literary festivals like Raleigh's poetrySPARK and Asheville's Wordfest. In 2012, she donated a week of her time re-building frost-heaved boardwalks at a National Wildlife Refuge in Maine through a volunteer vacation with the American Hiking Society and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. She donates to multiple charities annually and she has volunteered over 2,000 hours cumulatively.
Tara Lynne instructs writing classes and facilitates creative writing workshops in North Carolina through two groups she founded: Triangle Writers and Asheville Writers. She is also co-organizer of Living Poetry, the largest group of poets in Raleigh. Her creative writing has developed into three poetry books and the first (and only) guidebook to the Bonnaroo Music Festival.
Tara Lynne has always enjoyed working a step ahead. She left high school a year early to study advertising and career writing, and was 19 when she received her bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University. She has written over 2,000 pages of web content and more than 150 articles. She has never missed a deadline.
The American Society of Journalists & Authors is an invitation-only network of approximately 1,000 independent working writers. It is a professional achievement to become a member of ASJA and Tara Lynne is proud to be one of just 22 writers in North Carolina with membership.
