Resume writing services in North Carolina

Job seekers have different career needs in the wake of the pandemic, rising global burnout, AI in hiring, and return-to-office policies. When we work together, I help you understand more ways to stand out to hiring managers with respect to these market factors.
In early 2019, more than a year before the world shut down, IBM laid off 30% of its HR workforce because of AI in hiring practices. According to the Harvard Business Review, 86% of employers have removed humans from the initial interview process. Today, 99% of Fortune 500 companies use AI for hiring. If you're taking the same approach to finding a job that you did years ago, you're likely struggling getting through today's AI-clogged hiring practices. I can help you understand and prepare for all things AI in hiring: social screeners, personality tests, psych assessments, risk profiling, phone interview algorithms, facial recognition and video interview rankings, and more.
Hi, I'm Tara Lynne. As a resume writer and former PR director, I help you market yourself.
I've provided resume writing services for 2 decades and support people at every stage of their professional life.

I believe in designing life around one's values. I graduated high school early, received my bachelor's degree at 19, and I'm on track to retire early. I can give you a unique perspective on structuring your time to align with your values.

I help you define your leadership signature and communicate your vision in today's dynamic world. I received a certificate in Leadership in an Exponentially Changing World from MIT (2025).

My current career services

I help people navigate planned and unplanned career changes.

  • Career break coaching. Plan and take successful sabbaticals, mini retirements, or extended leaves.
  • Retire early. Align your work life to support early retirement, whether you're hoping to leave the workforce a few years early or extremely early in the FI/RE movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early).
  • Leave a toxic workplace. Protect and improve your health and well-being by planning a strategic exit from a toxic work culture.
  • Work more. The Stanford Center for Longevity's New Map of Life addresses the new normal of 100-year lives. For some people, this means working longer or changing careers multiple times.
  • Work less. Structure your work life for caregiving or starting a business.
  • Career crisis planning. Turn the challenge of an unexpected job loss into a career opportunity.
  • Redefine your role or career. Organize your unique assets in response to AI-driven displacement.
It's a critical time to enhance and showcase your skills strategically. Based on the World Economic Forum's 2025 Future of Jobs Report, "On average, workers can expect that two-fifths (39%) of their existing skill sets will be transformed or become outdated over the 2025-2030 period."

Option 1 | Collaborative consultation (1-hour Zoom call)
One-time session: We meet within 1 week

During a collaborative consult we spend focused time reviewing the career collateral that’s most important to you. I bring my 20 years of expertise and share my perspectives on how to solve your problems. This is an active working session. You’ll leave with actionable next steps to help you move forward with your next career move.

Option 2 |  Coaching package (5 1-hour Zoom calls)
Ongoing engagements: We meet within 1 week

Coaching packages are customized to support your goals. We'll spend 5 sessions together and you choose how often: weekly, monthly, quarterly.

Design your own coaching package:
  • Values-based career planning. Spend time designing an intentional career path.
  • Prepare for what's next. Get ready for a promotion, industry change, or early retirement.
  • Interview coaching. Prepare for AI screeners and personality assessments.
  • Time optimization. Make the most of your job search time.
  • Mentor and level up. Develop the skills to help you land your next role.

Option 3 | Resume package: new or revised career assets
Rush available: We meet within 1 week or less. I send drafts within 3 days or up to 2 weeks, depending on rush needs.

Get a full resume package (resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile) or a combination of assets. Your resume has one job: get you a job interview. A professional resume free of errors needs to convey your most relevant value. Plus, the content must match a style appropriate to your industry. Font choice, layout, bullet styles--these strategic choices are just as important as what your resume says in words. I use my journalism background to conduct a custom discovery interview and learn about your important accomplishments. With the interview as a foundation, I then craft descriptions and quantify your contributions. I also educate you about how online resumes work to make them search engine-friendly. This includes a pre-interview document review, 1-hour Zoom discovery interview, initial drafts, plus 1 round of revisions (if needed).

Rush projects available with 3-day and 1-week turnarounds.

Design your own package:
  • Resume
  • Cover letter
  • LinkedIn profile
  • Interview preparation (strategic planning for in-person, virtual, and AI in hiring practices)
  • Coaching

"I'm very happy with the tone and the little details you picked up on." -Dawn S.

"Thank you for the great work on my resume. I got a position in sales in Washington, DC. I move at the end of the month." - H.A.

"Tara Lynne did a great job revising my resume. She interviewed me about my professional experiences and really listened to me. The way she phrased my work experience is better than any career counselor I've used. I feel like my resume not only showcases my work, but makes me more personable to employers." - Debra L.

How much should a resume writer cost? Is it worth getting a resume writer?

When it comes to resume writing fees, the cost is really an investment. Investing in your career collateral can help you get recognized for a role in a crisis mode job search, or allow you to proactively have your latest professional experience ready when the right role comes along. You're more equipped for your next step with an updated resume. Monetarily, market rates range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars, and my own fees vary based on the service chosen and rush needs. The cost of not working with a resume writer might mean a missed opportunity for getting called for an interview that would have been an ideal job, or missing income due to a slow job search.
