Resume services: resume writing and consultations
I've provided resume writing services for two decades. I started writing resumes years before I formally started my writing business in 2009. Unlike "resume mills" and sites that require you to fill out a lengthy questionnaire that auto-fills a stock resume template, you work directly with me and I'm the only one drafting a fresh version of your resume.

As market demands shift, I have 3 virtual offerings:
- Resume, cover letter, or LinkedIn profile critique | written feedback only
Written career asset critique with in-line comments and a separate written statement. I provide feedback on applicant tracking system (ATS) readability, content strategy, and formatting and presentation. You can use the critique to identify potential revisions that you can make to your documents or LinkedIn profile. (LinkedIn has unique search algorithms.)
Good for: People who have a clear career strategy and need help re-phrasing their contributions, creating a content hierarchy, and ensuring their files are readable for both humans and algorithms.
Timing: I provide written feedback within 5 days of receipt of payment and files.
Fee: Flat fee per asset or a package rate for all. - Collaborative resume writing consultations | 1 hour
During this session we spend focused time reviewing the career collateral that’s most important to you. I bring my 20 years of expertise to share my perspectives on how to solve your problems. This is an active working session. You’ll leave with actionable next steps to help you move forward with your next career move.
Good for: People who need to redefine or establish a career strategy, talk through career gaps and how to handle them, discuss if a narrative resume format works best, or refine a LinkedIn profile. Bring your top concerns and questions along with your resume, cover letter, and/or LinkedIn profile.
Timing: We could meet in the next few weeks.
Fee: Billed at 1 hour. - New or revised resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile | Multi-week engagement: Pre-interview document review, 1 hour interview, LinkedIn keyword research and recommendations (if selected), initial draft development, plus one round of revisions (if needed)
From resumes for senior leadership to those transitioning into a new career, I use my journalism background to conduct a custom interview. I learn about your most important skills and accomplishments. Using the interview as a foundation, I then craft descriptions and quantify your contributions to help get hiring managers' attention. I also explain how online resumes work to make them search engine-friendly.
Good for: People who feel overwhelmed updating outdated career collateral on their own, who prefer a more hands-free approach, or who want to optimize all of their career assets for a targeted strategy.
Timing: As of February 2024, my next projects start about 3 weeks out. Expect 2 weeks turnaround time from our interview.
Fee: Flat fee for each asset or a package rate for all.
