Triangle Writers
I love building community.
I'm the founder of Triangle Writers, which grew to more than 1,200 members during my leadership. I ran the group from 2008–2022. Today I host occasional webinars and workshops, speak at conferences, and share about publishing trends in my newsletter for writers.
I can't count the number of critique groups, workshops, retreats, friendships, and stories that surfaced thanks to the members of this group. It was always a privilege. I loved celebrating with folks when books and stories were published, and commiserating over rejection letters.
While I no longer lead or participate with Triangle Writers, check them out.

Living Poetry: Raleigh's largest poetry group

Raleigh poets at poetrySPARK
For several years I was one of the co-organizers of Living Poetry, the largest group of poets in Raleigh. I still participate occasionally. Events include open mics, poet lounges, workshops, and a poetry book club. Living Poetry does not require a membership fee.
In 2010, I organized Raleigh's first-ever Poetry on Demand Booth at poetrySPARK (now litSPARK). More than 125 poems were written in under 3 minutes each based on random public prompts. One of my poems inspired a marriage proposal in 2011. In 2012, the couple returned and had their marriage ceremony at the festival. In 2013, many poems were written. No marriages reported. Or divorces.
